United Nations: The Secretary-General of United Nations Antonio Guterres selected a Nobel prize winner Malala Yousafzai as a UN Messenger of Peace on Monday to promote the girls education, more than 4 years after a Taliban sniper shot her in the head on her school bus in 2012.

At the age of 19, Malala Yousafzai is the youngest Messenger of Peace and it is the highest honor given by UN for an initial time period of almost 2 years.

Yousafzai also won the Nobel peace prize in 2014 when she was just 17 and she also is the youngest Nobel Prize winner.

“You are not just a hero, though you are a very committed and generous person as well,” Guterres told Malala.

The other messenger of peace involves actor Leonardo di Caprio for climate change, actor Charlize Theron for prevention of HIV and eradication of violence against women as well as the actor Michael Douglas for nuclear disarmament.

Yousafzai currently lives in Britain, where she received medical treatment after she was shot.

While conversing, Yousafzai said that when she completes secondary school in June, she will like to study philosophy, politics and economics at varsity.
