Lahore: University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences will set up its sub-campus in Bahalwalpur.

The university will comprise of three faculties that includes bio-sciences, veterinary sciences and animal production and technology and 18 departments.

Project Director Dr Rizwan Yousaf has given this statement in a presentation given to the steering committee on “Establishment of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bahawalpur,” at the UVAS on Monday.

MPA Khalid Mahmood Jajja chaired this meeting.

Dr Yousaf informed the committee about the development work and said that the university will also have teaching and research centres on dairy cattle, beef animals, sheep and goats, camels, poultry, pet and wildlife, a central disease diagnostic laboratory, 16 departmental laboratories, a veterinary teaching hospital, pet and wild animal hospital as well as a computer laboratory together with library, student-teacher centre, seminar rooms, auditorium, sports complex, besides residential facilities for staff and aspirants.

This project is being executed by UVAS, in association along with two Turkish universities, Selcuk University and Ankara University. It will be sponsored by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Punjab.

On the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that the university exploit the livestock potential of the zone and provide opportunities to the poor farmers as well as the people of Bahawalpur to add to their incomes.
