Universal Service Fund Company following the commands of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication is now ready to distribute 18,000 smartphones of worth millions of rupees along with the mobile credit among the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) without doing any research work.

This statement was given by the Ministry of IT officials during briefing the National Assembly Standing committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication.

The officials of Universal Service Fund Company informed that a mega project has been started under which almost 18,000 mobile phones will be distributed among the BISP recipients.

Though, when members of parliament asked regarding the rational, logic as well as research behind this project, the officials notified that the idea was to make the handsets affordable for the receivers of BISP.

They furthermore said that the receivers of BISP can utilize the handsets for communication reasons. Though, they admitted that no research was done and the complete project was just based on proposals.
