Lahore: The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) is actually playing a vital role in producing the qualified individuals to provide employment opportunities to citizens, particularly along with the projects such as CPEC on the horizon.

On Tuesday, the authority announced that it will increase the number of aspirants in IT short courses up to 60,000 across the province (Punjab).

While addressing a meeting of the officials, the chairperson of TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said his organization was offering the course in 135 institutes of authority in various districts of Punjab.

Almost 5,000 aspirants passed out of the first batch and the same numbers of aspirants are registered in the second batch which is still continued, he added.

Irfan said that among the presently registered aspirants, 2,230 out of 5,090 students were women and it is the 40 percent of the enrollment.

“Women in Pakistan are shining in almost every field and TEVTA is paying attention on more registrations in its all courses,” he added.

He furthermore added that the IT sector had more opportunities and greater salaries for the women. That’s why; he urged them to join the TEVTA courses to equip themselves along with the essential skills to progress in the sector.

“We will guarantee the female enrolment up to 50 percent,” said Irfan.

While providing details of the other courses he said that Microsoft was charging up to $105 dollars per student from TEVTA and now this amount has decreased by $10.

Moreover, every student would be given a stipend of Rs1, 000 according to the special instructions from the chief minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

The aim of TEVTA is to finish the unemployment in the province. TEVTA chairperson said that it was arming the youth along with the skills and designing the courses according to the market requirements.

He further added that it was the only through which 100 percent employment could be accomplished across the province.

He also said that we have developed a system to search the jobs for passing students as per the level of their learning. Large number of aspirants would be adjusted into the local industry.  

Qaiser said that the graduates were working in various regions such as industrial, production as well as others.

He also explained that IT training was necessary nowadays and nobody could deny its importance.
