The Government of Sindh has refused to introduce the uniform syllabus devised by the federal government across the province and said that the devising syllabus was a provincial prerogative.

On Thursday, a meeting of the education department presided over by the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah looked over the proposal to introduce a same syllabus in the country. While conversing during the meeting, the Education Minister Saeed Ghani stated that the Federal government had sent them the contents of uniform syllabus to be introduced in the country. He also added that: “They wish to implement uniform syllabus in the country.” 

Uniform Syllabus Devised By Federal Government Has No Social Studies Subject

It was informed in the meeting while briefing that the provincial syllabus contains a subject of social studies from Class 6th to class 8th. “But, the curriculum planned by the Federal government has no subject of Social Studies,” it was informed in the meeting. In the meeting it was also informed that the innovative provincial syllabus was developed according to the guidelines of effective learning abilities.

The chief Minister of Sindh, during the meeting said that: the provincial syllabus is much better and in completely fulfills the requirements of this modern age. He also directed Education Minister, Saeed Ghani, to draw a comparison between both curriculum and submit a report to him as soon as possible.

Sindh Government to Notify New Curriculum On Its Own

The Chief Minister in the meeting also stated that Government of Sindh will notify the new syllabus on its own because it is the right of the province to devise a syllabus.

Federal Government Complete First Phase of Plan to Implement Same Syllabus

While providing detailed briefing to the Prime Minister, Imran Khan about the implementation of same syllabus in the country, Ministry of Education told that the procedure comprised of a working group involving the professionals and experts with the needed help from academics in Cambridge, Agha Khan Boards and LUMS.

It is also important to mention here that Federal Government in March announced that it has completed the first stage of its plan to implement the similar syllabus across the state as it prepared curriculum for classes up to class 5th.
