Lahore: Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) strongly negated the claims in various zones of media that it had skipped the chapters on religious, national personalities as well as Islam from the textbooks.

The chairperson of Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board Rana Tariq told the media sources that the alarms were raised that the textbook board had changed the syllabus and removed some chapters relevant to religious and the national personalities as well.
He furthermore said that, “these claims are not correct and no such modification has been made in the syllabus across the province.”
It was stated that the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board had removed the chapters on religious and national personalities from the Urdu books of class 3rd and class 4th and from the English Textbooks of Class 3rd and Class 5th, he added.

Tariq said, “There has been no exclusion of these chapters from the syllabus instead the PCTB has ordered the topics plus involved the chapters in various books throughout the school syllabus to focus on these topics in a better way.”
He highlighted that the re-distribution of the topics was made in discussion along with the professionals as well as the books were based on national syllabus of 2006.
At the same time, responding on the news of changes in the syllabus, the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) announced to stage a protest against the government on Monday (today) outside Lahore Press Club.
In another statement, Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba said that if the government did not withdraw the changes in 2 days, they will blockade Punjab Assembly.
