Karachi: French government presented 12 scholarships for development of the faculty at Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi.
The 'Pak-France Initiative' will soon be occurred for the promotion of science and technology in Pakistan.
This strategy will further strengthen the two-sided relations in the field of science and technology between the two countries.
This was decided in a meeting of Pakistani and French scientists organized at PCMD on Monday. Director of International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary headed the meeting, which was attended by Prof Dr Georges Massiot, Prof Dr Eric Dufourc, and Prof Dr Bruno Figadere from France. Some other officials of ICCBS also attended the meeting.

It was also decided in the meeting that engineering faculty of Dr Panjwani Centre, University of Karachi will also be sent to France for mechanical trainings.
After that, while talking at the special scientific session on "French Excellence in Science" organized at Prof Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium; Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary said that ICCBS and French research institutions have deep-seated strong mutual research tradition.
He further added that during the last many years, large number of French scientists visited (UOK) ICCBS for chasing their educational and research objectives adding that this is an exceptional chance for young researchers, aspirants as well as faculty members to learn from the giant French scholars, and get information regarding exciting science and technology research by the well-known scientists from France.
"Pakistan and France need to acquire more academic alliances in days to come. Pakistan appreciates French authorities' actions to grant scholarships for Pakistani scholars," he added.
This session was also addressed by Prof Dr Georges Massiot, Prof Dr Eric Dufourc, and Prof Dr Bruno Figadere.
