Government of Sindh Changes Admission Policy For Medical Colleges and Universities

The government of Sindh has taken a decision to withdraw the notification permitting the Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women in Shaheed Benazirabad to hold the entry tests for medical colleges and universities across Sindh. 

According to the notification issued by the Provincial Health Department states that the Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women in Shaheed Benazirabad will not organize the entry test for admissions in MBBS and BDS programmes in provincial medical colleges and universities.

Though, the decision regarding this issue will be taken later.

MQM Rejects Change Made by Sindh Government in Admission Policy

It is also important to mention here that this matter was engrossed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-(MQM) Pakistan, after the political party on July 3rd, 2020 rejected the change made by the Government of Sindh in the admission policy for medical institutes across the province.

The Parliamentary Leader of MQM part in Sindh Assembly Kanwar Naveed Jameel while announcing the decision of the party, said that, under the new admission policy the Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women in Shaheed Benazirabad will not hold the entry test for Medical Colleges and Universities.

He furthermore added that, the questions have been raised already on the integrity of Peoples Medical College Benazirabad. He also called this decision as unfair towards urban centres of Sindh.

In the Assembly he also asked that “How we can hand over the future of the medical students to an institute with such reputation?” He demanded the Government of Sindh to bring back the earlier admission policy for medical colleges and universities.
