Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has declared the certificates of 10 medical and dental colleges illegal and barred them from further admission.
 
According to the Dawn newspaper, the council decided that pre-enrolled students would be transferred to other colleges so that their education would not be disrupted.
 
These 10 colleges were registered under the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).
 
The Islamabad High Court had struck down the ordinance under which the PMC was set up and declared it illegal.
 
Khaqan Waheed Khawaja, general secretary of the Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Associations (PAMA), said he had met the PMDC president and assured him that the inspection phase would be completed within a month.
 
According to the notice issued by the council, while all the steps taken by the PMC have been declared illegal, the certificate and registration given to them is also being considered illegal. This decision has come around a time when students are preparing for MDCAT Entry Test that leads to admission in MBBS program in medical colleges across Pakistan. 
 
The notice said that 10 colleges have been barred from admitting new students and for 2019- 20, the admitted students will be accommodated in other colleges which have been approved by PMDC.
 
Following medical and dental colleges’ certificate has been cancelled.
 
Punjab:
Two colleges in Punjab were declared illegal.
 Watim Medical College in Rawalpindi 
 Naheed Dental College in Lahore,
 
Islamabad:
 The dental sections of Shifa College of Dentistry
 Shifa Tameer Millat 
Rawal Institute of Health Sciences in Islamabad
 
AJK:
Muhammad Dental College of Mirpur Khas
 Khairpur Medical College
 
Sindh:
 Air Force Rath Fau Medical College 
Dow Dental College 
of Karachi, were declared illegal.
 
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
 Abbottabad International Medical College 
Swat Medical College 
 
All students studying in these institutions will be accommodated in other colleges. The notification issued by the Registrar of PMDC said that Brigadier Hafiz-ud-Din Siddiqui said that all the money collected from the students from all the colleges was transferred to other colleges within a month .
