French Attache Attends International Conference Held at University of Agriculture Faisalabad
French Attache to Cultural and Corporation Department, Embassy of France attended the inaugural session of two-day international conference at University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday. While addressing with the session he said that the French Government wants to promote collaborative relations with Pakistan’s agricultural sector for food processing and security.
The two-day conference has been organized by Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Sciences (FFNHS) of University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) with the title, ‘Food Processing and Entrepreneurship - A way towards Economic Sustainability’. Pierrick LE Jeune said, ‘We are evolving a new policy to enhance cooperation with University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) in agriculture sector for food processing and food security.’
He said that over 700 Pakistani students are currently completing their graduation from French Universities. Each year nearly 50 PhD students complete their degrees from French Universities in collaboration with HEC, he added. Talking about the crisis in educational sector his country has been facing recently, he said due to budget crisis French Government has increased registration fee for international students.
He encouraged students to use latest technologies and work on their creative ideas instead of running after jobs. He said that the students must consider new ways to start businesses as world is going through poverty and financial crises and Pakistan is one of those countries as well. He added the food processing sector has a wide employment scope and potential for career progress, the youth should meet specialization in this sector. He commended the academic and research work of UAF and said that it is a brilliant school to attain education for food processing and food industry.
Moreover he said 40 to 50 PhD doctors of UVAS have studied in France. The VC, Dean FFNHS, Director General (DG) National Institute of Food Sciences & Technology (NIFSAT) and professors of UAF also addressed the conference. Shields were presented to French Attche, Faculty members and VC of UAF at end of the event.
Lok Virsa Administration to Set Up Lok Sangat Academy in April
The information ministry has collaborated Lok Virsa administration to set up an academy called Lok Sangat in bid to preserve cultural heritage of Pakistan. As earlier United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had persuaded Pakistani Government to take concrete steps for preservation of Pakistani national heritage, folk music, regional languages and artists.
The academy will start functioning by April this year. The core aim of establishing this academy is to pass on regional languages, folk music and cultural heritage to the next generation. The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage — Lok Virsa has already planned its structure and functions. National folk singers, renowned musicians and singers are contacted to be hired as teachers in Lok Sangat Academy.
The academy will award certificate to students after completing their courses. The Lok Virsa administration has collected the data of students of Pakistani Universities and Colleges to engage them in cultural activities for the sake of promoting culture.
