Lahore: As a special initiative of the CM Punjab, scholarship cheques of worth Rs.5.2 million were distributed among 179 students from minorities in the Lahore. These cheques were distributed by CM of Punjab for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu at the Town Hall on Thursday.

Tahir Sindhu congratulated the receivers and said that the Shahbaz Sharif had allocated Rs30 million to provide educational scholarships for the aspirants from minorities during 2017. He further added that almost 658 students from minorities were given educational scholarships in academic session 2015-16 throughout the province.

He said that educational scholarships were being provided completely on merit basis and in a fair environment. 

Furthermore, he asked the aspirants to pay attention on education and skills for their own sake and for the betterment of nation.

Sindhu said the the government of Punjab announced even more scholarships for minority students and those who were eligible can apply by February 28th, 2017

The minister continued that the 5 percent quota for minorities in government jobs had been implemented on the given orders by CM Punjab.
