Lahore, Delegation of Bangladeshi students visited the Punjab University (PU) on Thursday. The delegation led by Dr Shahid Akhtar Hussain visited various departments of the varsity and interacted with the students and faculty members.

During their visit to the PU College of Information Technology (PUCIT), college principal Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar briefed the delegation about the teaching programs being offered at the college. He said foreign students had also been studying in the PUCIT which also provided scholarships to the talented and needy students. The delegation visited the college’s library, IT lab, GIS Centre, seminar room, VC office, Senate and Sherani Halls.

Afterwards, the delegation went to the PU Oriental College where Principal Prof Dr Mazhar Moeen told the delegation about the history, infrastructure, departments and academic programs of the college. He also told the delegation that the college had been offering courses in foreign languages at the Institute of Languages.

During their visit to the PU New Campus, the delegation of Bangladeshi students met with Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Javaid Ahmad, deans of faculties and senior faculty members in the Al-Raazi Hall of Centre for Undergraduate Studies.

Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Controller Examinations Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Dean Faculty of Arts & Humanities Prof Dr Qalb-i-Abid, Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies Prof Dr Hafiz Mahmood Akhtar, Director Undergraduate Studies Centre Prof Dr Amir Ijaz, RO-I Javed Sami, Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado, Advisor to VC Col (r) Ikramullah and other faculty members also were present. Dr Shahid admired the hospitality of the Punjab University and Punjab government. He said the students’ visit would further develop mutual relations between the two countries.

Later, the delegation visited the Main Library and took a round of various sections of the library. The delegation members openly exchanged views on various topics with the students, present in the library. The delegation afterwards visited the Punjab University’s Institute of Communication Studies (PUICS) where institute’s Director Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz briefed them about the academic and research programs of the institute.

The delegates also visited library, TV studio and FM radio of the PUICS. The Bangladeshi students also expressed their views about their visit to the PU and said they were given the impression that Pakistan’s security situation was not good but they found no issue with the security in Pakistan.
