Islamabad: Almost 15 people who were granted scholarships to study in Japan are boarding on their journey. Before leaving for Japan, these aspirants were given an orientation at the Japanese Embassy on Tuesday.

Sponsored by the Japanese government, the programmes under which these scholarships have been granted to the students of Pakistan include the MEXT Research Scholarship 2017 (two to five years, until their Research is complete), MEXT Teachers Training Scholarship Programme (eighteen months), Young Leaders’ Programme (one year) and Japanese Language Training Programme for Foreign Service Officers (only 8 months).

In the Teachers Training Programme, one male teacher has been selected. In the Young Leaders Programme, 2 male government officials have been selected. In the Diplomat Training Programme, one female diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been selected whereas the 11 aspirants from across Pakistan have received the MEXT Research scholarship through varsity endorsements.

In March 2017, 7 students, who were granted the MEXT Research Scholarship 2017 through the Japanese embassy, entered their respective universities in Japan.
