DPT Eligibility Criteria in Pakistan 2026: Marks, Subjects, Age and Domicile
To be eligible for DPT in Pakistan, you generally need at least 60% in FSc Pre-Medical (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or an equivalent such as A-Levels with an IBCC equivalence certificate. Beyond that, rules vary by university: some add an entry test, an age limit, a domicile condition or a "no third division in matric" rule. FA and Pre-Engineering students are not eligible.
The core DPT eligibility rules
Qualification and marks
The standard route is FSc Pre-Medical (or A-Levels or an equivalent HSSC) with 60% marks. Most guides agree on that, though one older page notes that some institutes set the bar at 50%, 55%, 65% or 70%. So 60% is the baseline, not a universal law.
Subjects
You need the pre-medical group: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Some institutions specify Biology as mandatory, and one lists Physics or Mathematics as acceptable alongside Biology and Chemistry. Read the subject line in your target university's notice.
Matric
Some universities won't take a third-division matric. UMT, for instance, states this outright. Others simply count matric marks toward merit.
Awaiting your result?
Several institutions accept applications from students whose FSc or A-Level results are still pending. Ziauddin and Cosmic Institute both say so. Others don't, so confirm before paying an application fee.
A-Levels and foreign qualifications
A-Levels with Biology, Chemistry and Physics are accepted, but you'll need an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). The same rule applies to other foreign secondary qualifications.
Age
Age limits vary. Altamash sets 17 to 25, for example, while Rawalpindi Medical College is listed at 17 to 30. JSMU's DPT page shows no age limit.
Domicile
Public and provincial-quota seats often need domicile. JSMU makes Sindh domicile mandatory for taking its entrance test.

JSMU DPT eligibility criteria 2026
JSMU's official DPT page sets the entrance-test eligibility at F.Sc or A-Level pre-medical with at least 60% marks, plus Sindh domicile. It lists 90 open-merit seats and 10 self-finance seats, and says admissions run each year in November or December. JSMU's own page links a DPT prospectus and an admission policy. Why check carefully? In January 2026, JSMU's joint test drew 4,839 registrations across DPT, BSN, Pharm-D and BSMT, and 4,200 were deemed eligible, so 639 registrants were not. The reasons weren't reported, but it shows that being screened out is real.

Eligibility isn't the same as admission
Meeting the 60% line only lets you apply. Selection depends on merit, and competitive institutions close far above the minimum. Our DPT guide notes, for example, that KEMU's merit has run in the high 80s to mid 90s. The entry-test picture varies too:
