Merit Calculation Criteria

The merit in BS Physical Education is usually determined based on a mixture of intermediate results (FA/FSc/ICS/A-Levels) and entrance test results in case it is required. Universities Public universities like the University of the Punjab and Gomal University tend to consider 70-80% weightage on the intermediate marks and the rest 20-30% weightage on entry test or interview performance. There are those institutions that only focus on academic performance without carrying out any other test. The more pliable formula might apply to private universities, which at times can accept students on basis of past academic merit or can take less aggregates, with specifications of admissions. The admission prospectus of the university of their choice should be well read by the applicant so as to know whether they will be calculated based on the 2025 method.

Merit Lists in Public Universities

Merit lists in the public universities are highly competitive as they are in lower charges and have good reputation. The initial merit list is usually known a few weeks following the deadline of application, being in August or September 2025. The students in the first list will be required to ensure that they confirm their position by paying the admission fee within the relevant deadline. In case the seats are not filled, universities publish second and third lists of merit till all the seats are occupied. Due to the high level of competition, closing merit percentages in state universities tend to be higher than in a private institution, and thus, it is of much importance to be well prepared and to achieve good grades.

Merit Lists in Private Universities

Merit lists are also issued by the private universities but the admission process is usually more lax. They can also do rolling admissions where applicants can be accepted as soon as appropriate and not wait to have a single list to be released. This enables the students that have slightly lower grades to obtain admission as long as they apply early. Conventional institutions can also be providing conditional admissions where students are able to send in documents that they are missing or pay the fee in instalments to secure the seat. The private universities offer a good alternative to students who fail to qualify to join the public universities based on high merit.

Announcement Dates of Merit List

Merit lists are announced on a time scale, the majority of universities announcing their first list towards the end of summer. The first merit list is usually published by the public universities in August or September with the remaining two or three lists ideally within a period of 7-10 days. The private universities can release their lists of merit earlier and keep adding them subsequently as applications are obtained until all the seats are occupied. Students should habitually check the official websites or admission portal of their preferred universities to prevent failure to meet the deadline on submission of fees and verification of documents. Failure to meet these deadlines could lead to missing the seat to the next qualified candidate in the waiting list.
