Public universities are the cheapest among the universities with students who would like to pursue BS Physical Education. Universities such as the University of the Punjab, Gomal University and University of Sindh have this program at very subsidized costs. In these universities, the tuition per-semester is usually between PKR 25,000 to PKR 45,000. There are also hostels and transport facilities at very affordable prices, which makes the public universities appealing to students in the middle income families. These institutions are financed by the government, and the costs are not high; nevertheless, access to sports grounds, laboratories, and research opportunities is available. Nevertheless, the cost is less and hence there tends to be a high competition to gain admission and the merit lists tend to close at a higher percentage.
The BS Physical Education in the private universities usually costs more in the tuition fee than the public universities but offers modern teaching facilities, well-equipped gyms, and high-quality sports laboratories. The price of this program in the private university on a per-semester basis can be between PKR 80,000 and PKR 150,000. There are also universities where separate fees of the practical training, sports kits, or tournaments are paid. The cost of private universities is high; however, they offer smaller classes, personalized attention, and internship programs that enhance the general learning process. The private universities are very good options in case the students need a more liberal educational atmosphere and the opportunity to access the most modern facilities.
In addition to tuition fees, students would have to take into account other expenses that make up the total cost of earning a BS Physical Education degree. They might also be the admission processing fees, security deposit, examinations, and the thesis or project costs at the final year. Hostel and mess fees are also paid by students who live in hostels, but these are also certain to the location of the university and the type of accommodation. There are more charges that may be charged on sports equipments, laboratory use, and field work activities. Physical training sessions also need books, stationery and uniforms which must be budgeted. Budgeting of such costs will mean that learners are not interrupted with their studies.
There are some financial assistance programs available in several public and private universities, to enable the needy students to afford education. Scholarships are given based on the excellent academic performance of students through merit based scholarships whereas need based scholarships are offered to the needy. Other universities have sports scholarships to students who have played on the national level or the provincial level representing their school, college or region. There are also Higher Education Commission (HEC) scholarships and schemes funded by the government to assist students in the institutions of the public sector. These alternatives are of great help in cutting down the financial cost and allowing more students to access higher education.
