Ibrahim Hasan Murad, President of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) has expressed deep concern with the seemingly no priority given to the young people in the Federal Budget 202526.
Murad said, in a nation where almost two-thirds of the populace is below 30 years of age, it is absolutely vital that the Honorable Finance Minister clearly and categorically defines what the Federal Budget has provided to the younger generation of Pakistan.
The national budget, he stressed, cannot only target the fiscal stability, but it needs to be appealing to the needs of the new generation in Pakistan. Youth is not only a population group, it is our most significant strategic resource. A budget without them is a budget that does not see the future.”
Murad asked the government to transparently plan specific investment in education, vocational training, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and job creation. It does not have optional sectors: these industries are the basis of national resilience and prosperity.
He sounded a note of warning on the consequence of further inaction and said: “Failing to invest in our young people, we will lose them, to disillusionment, disengagement and despair.”
And he concluded by making a direct appeal: “We appeal to the Finance Minister to address the youth of Pakistan---plainly, openly, and honestly. What is in this budget to them? They have a right to know.
