Tips to apply for China for MS and PhD

There has been an increased interest of students to apply on global scholarships. Pakistan has been counted among those states, where the application rate is very low. It is because in most of the cases, students are worried about the methods to apply for most of the scholarship. The basic reason is the lack of information and vision. So, we have decided to guide you about some tips to apply for the scholarships in China. Following are some important suggestions.

Find a Professor / Supervisor

For most of the scholarships, the acceptance of supervisor is necessary. Now days, students send multiple acceptance emails to many supervisors in one institute. This is a very weak practice and the students fail to get single acceptance from one institute. A good method is to select a professor from one institute, who has a good experience in your selected field of interest. You can use Google Translate add-on in your browser to quickly translate the information present on Chinese Universities. It is good to take two or three acceptances. However, after you get the acceptances, it is better to keep one, rather than to waste two or three seats. The professor/supervisor will give you an acceptance letter, which will help you in applying online for the scholarship.

Applying online on official portal

The second step is to apply on the online portal of Chinese Government Scholarship or the University Scholarship. The scholarship offered by the Chinese Scholarship Council is commonly called as the Government Scholarship. It is competitive award and less number of students are selected on this opportunity. For applying on this opportunity, you have to make an account on https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ and enter your complete information. However, CSC offers scholarship only in the September or fall intake.

Universities also give the award of the Scholarship to the students. For this type, you have to contact the international office present in that specific university. Usually this award is offered two times in one year, i.e., in Spring and Fall.

Be careful in applying and selecting, because some of the programs are offered in Chinese. So, it is better to take the program in English.

Confirmation of Scholarship

Usually you are confirmed about the scholarship one month before of the award. You will get an email from International office and also a letter at your postal address. You have to take the admission letter and other documents for the Visa confirmation.

Degree Attestation and Police Character Certificate

It is good to attest all your degrees from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen, Islamabad and Higher Education Commission Islamabad and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad. You should also at least three copies of your certificates.

Visa Requirements

You should take your admission notice, attested document copies, ID card copy and valid passport to the visa office. After the document submission, you will be given a slip. Your Visa will be issued to you after 5-7 working days. It is go to visa office early in the morning because the working time is very limited.

Beware of Fraud Practices

One of the students in China shared about a student who was trapped by the agents. The agent took 0.3 million PKR for all the process. The student reached China and found that the whole program in in Chinese. Sometimes, the fraudulent take the money and give you fake documents. So, it is better not to give even a single penny to anyone.
