Master in Computer Science (MSCS) is two year academic programme that is offered to the students who wish to study computer Science. Large number of private as well as government sector universities in Pakistan is offering this programme. The programme consists of 4 semesters and the students have to complete these four semesters in 2 years. In the last semester students are required to make a thesis or project for the completion of their degree.
As the completion of thesis or project is consider necessary for the students to get MSCS degree. In thesis it is your ideas that are central to the degree while in the project it is what you make (software or hardware) is the central to the degree. In both the cases you are required to make a contribution to the existing body of knowledge or of experience. For the project you are required to take more courses for the implementation of your ideas that would assist you in making your chosen project while in the thesis you do more research plus have a more formal presentation at the end of academic year. It all depends upon the requirement of the university in which you are studying. Ultimately a thesis includes a project. The thesis utilizes project as a proof of concept, however it also describes what is theoretically novel and how this work fits into the framework of present work in the field.
