The Water and Sanitation Agency WASA is a government department which is responsible for planning and designing of water system in Pakistan. All the systems regarding water and sanitation, Water Supply, Sewerage and Draining System in Pakistan is under WASA’s functions. It was established in 1976 by Lahore Development Authority (LDA). WASA is working under managing board consisted of Managing Director (MD), three Deputy Managing Directors (DMDs) , DMD Finance, DMD Administration and Revenue, DMD Operation & Maintenance, and DMD Engineering. The Water and Sanitation Agency functions for rehabilitation of the existing Water System, operation and Maintenance of Water Supply, billing and Collection of all fees and Charges, Undertaking Bulk Production, Collection, Pumping, Treatment & Disposal of Sewage & Industrial Waste Water. WASA is also offering quality consumer services in the field of Water Supply and Sewerage, ensuring cost effective measures in development works and operation & maintenance, adhering to professional ethics and zero tolerance for corruption, revenue generation at least sufficient enough to meet the non-development expenditure and to make the system self- sustainable, training and motivating employees and to develop cooperation and communication at all levels as updates on WASA’s official site. All of its employees are working under rules and regulations of Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
