Job Summary & Major Responsibilities

As the Unit Head, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Bank's litigation portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee and manage the litigation portfolio for various Business Units (BUs) including SME, RFD, ACD, HRG, and other cases, ensuring the Bank's rights and interests are robustly protected.

  • Legal Documentation & Vetting: Supervise and manage the vetting of all legal documents, including plaints, petitions, CPLAs, Civil Petitions (CPs), Civil Appeals (CAs), replications, and representations before filing in Courts of competent jurisdiction and other judicial/quasi-judicial forums. Ensure the timely issuance of Powers of Attorney (POA) to external legal counsels.

  • Settlement & Compromise: Vet, supervise, and provide expert legal guidance on settlement and compromise agreements to facilitate amicable resolutions that align with the Bank's legal framework and strategic objectives.

  • External Counsel Liaison: Manage and coordinate with external counsels to ensure consistent attendance before Courts and effectively defend the Bank's interests. Liaise with Business Units (BUs) and Relationship Managers (RMs) to ensure the timely provision of information and documents, enabling clear and actionable instructions to external counsels.

  • Panel Management & SOP Compliance: Recommend qualified lawyers for empanelment with the Bank and process approval notes for defalcated amounts in strict accordance with the Bank’s Legal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification:

  • Minimum LLB or a relevant degree from an HEC-recognized local or foreign university/institute.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 09 years of progressive experience in Litigation, with a strong focus on Banking Laws, Criminal Laws, Corporate Laws, and Recovery Laws.

Age:

  • Up to 55 years as of the date of application.
