The Sports Board of Punjab was constituted on April 8^th ,1985. The head office of board is situated in Lahore. It is administration and responsibilities are under authority of Government of Punjab. Since the year 2017, Muhammad Amir Jan is its Chief Director. Complete matters of sports events and departments in the province of Punjab are being monitored and executed under its authority. It has several responsibilities, few of those include: organization, promotion and development sports in the province, To arrange training and coaching programs, assurance of mass participation in sports and games by organizing sports competitions/tournaments in the province, maintenance of  liaison and coordinate with the Pakistan Sports Board, other provincial sports boards, national and provincial sports associations, utilization of funds provided by the government as grant-in-aid for the promotion of sports, and also release annual/special grants-in-aid to sports associations, committees, clubs and other sports organizations in the province, registration sports associations, holding their elections under the supervision of the board/district sports committees and to act as arbitrator for the resolution of the disputes among the parallel organizations and providence of extensive services to the en-service personnel in the form of refresher courses, training and coaching programs, seminars, conferences and workshops etc. Since its times of being, sports in province of Punjab has been progressed greatly.
