An International Organization invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the following Karachi-based position:
The Senior Manager Laboratory and Surveillance will provide strategic, technical, and managerial leadership to strengthen public health laboratory systems under the IHSS-SD Activity. The position will focus on the development of public health laboratories, enhancement of laboratory workforce capacity, implementation of laboratory quality management systems, and facilitation of accreditation readiness of supported laboratories.
This position reports directly to the Director – Technical Programs.
The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Provide technical and managerial support for the development and strengthening of public health laboratories.
Supervise and support initiatives aimed at enhancing laboratory workforce capacity through training, mentoring, and performance improvement.
Support implementation and monitoring of laboratory quality management systems in line with international standards.
Facilitate accreditation preparedness activities for supported laboratories, including quality improvement initiatives.
Provide guidance on public health laboratory functions, biosafety practices, and quality assurance systems.
Support implementation of External Quality Assurance (EQA) programs and laboratory reporting systems.
Coordinate with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective laboratory and surveillance operations.
Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation as required.
Advanced degree (Master’s and/or PhD) in Microbiology, Public Health Laboratory Science, Veterinary Laboratory Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in public health and/or clinical laboratory settings.
Demonstrated experience in laboratory supervision, quality systems implementation, and staff capacity development.
Prior experience supporting laboratory accreditation or quality improvement initiatives will be an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of public health laboratory functions, biosafety, and quality management systems.
Familiarity with ISO standards, External Quality Assessment (EQA), and laboratory information and reporting systems.
Excellent coordination, communication, and report-writing skills.
