FACULTY POSITIONS VACANT

The Aga Khan University (AKU), chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's premier private, not-for-profit, and research-intensive university, is seeking highly qualified, accomplished, and dedicated academic professionals for various faculty positions at its main campus in Karachi, Pakistan.

Department-Wise Positions & Eligibility Criteria

1. Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

• Rank/Level: Senior Instructor to Assistant Professor

• Educational Qualifications:

  • MBBS followed by an MSc, MPhil, or PhD in Community Ophthalmology or Community Health Sciences, OR

  • An MPhil or PhD in Optometry & Vision Sciences.

• Core Competencies & Experience:

  • Specialized interest and practical experience in Community Health Sciences.

  • A minimum of 02 years of relevant experience is highly preferred.

  • Prior experience in managing community eye care programs, project management, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) systems.

  • Added Advantage: A proven track record of securing research grant funding from national or international agencies.

2. Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

• Rank/Level: Senior Instructor to Assistant Professor

• Educational Qualifications: FCPS, FRCPath, American Board, or an equivalent post-graduate board certification.

• Core Competencies & Experience:

  • Completion of postgraduate fellowship training from a highly reputable medical institution.

  • A minimum of 03 to 04 years of active faculty experience in a recognized institutional setting.

  • Demonstrated commitment to scholarly achievement via peer-reviewed research publications and/or significant contributions to medical education.

3. Department of Radiology

• Rank/Level: Up to the level of Assistant Professor

• Educational Qualifications: FCPS, FRCR, American Board, or equivalent board-certified specialty qualifications.

• Core Competencies & Experience:

  • Completion of a formal, structured postgraduate residency training program.

  • A minimum of 05 years of relevant clinical experience in a reputable medical center.

  • Clear evidence of ongoing scholarship, research output, publications, or educational leadership.

  • Added Advantage: Completion of a dedicated subspecialty Fellowship in Women Imaging and/or Body Imaging.

4. Department of Psychiatry

• Rank/Level: Senior Instructor to Assistant Professor

• Educational Qualifications: FCPS, MRCPsych, CPSP Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Board, or equivalent.

• Licensing & Skills:

  • Must hold a valid, active license from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

  • Completion of a structured postgraduate training framework in Psychiatry.

  • Possession of exceptional interpersonal communication, empathetic patient-care skills, and absolute compliance with strict patient confidentiality protocols.

5. Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences

• Rank/Level: Associate Professor to Professor (Senior Faculty Track)

• Educational Qualifications: PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant biomedical field; holding a foundational medical degree (MBBS) is highly preferred.

• Core Competencies & Experience:

  • A minimum of 02 years of postdoctoral research experience.

  • Extensive experience teaching across multiple academic program levels and supervising graduate (MPhil/PhD) students.

  • A highly robust research and publication profile with a demonstrated, high-impact scholarly footprint.

  • Proven capability to independently secure competitive research grants and extramural funding.

• Location: All advertised positions are strictly based at the AKU campus in Karachi, Pakistan.
