URAAN PAKISTAN – VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
1. Allama Iqbal Professorial Fellowship
Location: South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany
Overview:
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, under the MOU with the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University, Germany, invites applications for the Allama Iqbal Professorial Fellowship.
Basic Eligibility:
- Pakistani national scholar, not exceeding 55 years of age at the date of joining.
- Must hold a Ph.D. and have the rank of Associate Professor or above.
- Teaching/research experience or recognition as a suitably eminent scholar in Humanities or Social Sciences.
- Proficiency in English is required.
Job Description:
- Impart knowledge of Pakistan’s history, culture, people, languages, literature, heroes, geography, and regional economic/political environment.
- Teach Urdu, Pakistan Studies, literature, and Pakistani culture.
- Engage with the academic community at Heidelberg University to enhance Pakistan-Germany relations.
- Attend academic forums and contribute to discussions.
- Organize long and short courses on Pakistan-related studies.
- Cooperate with scholars conducting research on Pakistan.
- Facilitate joint research and collaborations with Pakistani and German scholars.
- Organize conferences, seminars, workshops, art exhibitions, film and food festivals highlighting Pakistani culture.
- Promote the exchange of knowledge between Pakistan and Germany.
- Participate in functions marking Pakistan’s important national days.
- Establish Pakistan-focused literacy/cultural corners in university libraries.
Perks and Privileges:
- The Government of Pakistan will provide salary, allowances, and funds for activities related to the fellowship.
- The fellow is responsible for obtaining multiple-entry visas for themselves and family members under German law.
- Airfare and transportation for the scholar and family (spouse and children) will be covered by the Ministry.
- Additional perks as admissible by the Rules.
Terms and Conditions:
- Initial tenure: 3 years (deputation or contract basis).
- Extendable up to 2 more years with mutual consent.

2. Urdu and Pakistan Studies – NJSC "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University"
Location: Republic of Kazakhstan
Overview:
Applications are invited under the MOU with NJSC "Al-Farabi Kazakh National University" to fill the position of Chair/Coordinator-Researcher in Urdu and Pakistan Studies.
Basic Eligibility:
- Pakistani national scholar, not exceeding 55 years of age, rank of Associate Professor or above.
- Ph.D. in Urdu language/Literature/Pakistan Studies/History/Political Science/International Relations/International Trade/Development Economics recognized by HEC.
- Proficiency in English.
Job Description:
- Pursue MOU objectives.
- Teach Pakistan’s history, culture, languages, literature, heroes, geography, and economic/political environment.
- Devote time to Urdu, Pakistan Studies, literature, and culture.
- Engage with academic community in Kazakhstan to strengthen Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations.
