CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The University of Sindh invites applications from Experts/Consultants for short-term research studies and suitable candidates for contract-based positions. Applicants must hold Sindh domicile (preference will be given to candidates from Thatta, Sujawal, and Jamshoro districts) for the following positions under the marine research project titled:

"Establishment of Oceanographic Survey Unit: Climate Change, Freshwater Scarcity, and Pollution Impact Assessment on Geomorphology, Mangrove, Fisheries, and Wildlife Occurring in Coastal and Marine Waters of District Thatta."

This project is funded by the Petroleum Marine Development Committee (PMDC), Thatta.

Available Positions and Details

1 Marine Fisheries Expert 1 M.Phil/Ph.D. in Freshwater Biology & Fisheries/Marine Biology/Marine Science Research on biodiversity, conservation of marine fisheries, marine mammals, marine turtles, cetaceans, and coral diversity.
2 Geologist/Oceanographer Expert 1 M.Phil/Ph.D. in Geology Studies on sediment characterization, groundwater-sea intrusion, coastal land erosion, and degradation.
3 Mangrove Specialist 1 M.Phil/Ph.D. in Freshwater Biology & Fisheries/Marine Biology/Marine Science/Botany (specialized in mangrove forests) Conservation, mudflat identification for plantation, nursing, and preparation of mangrove cultivation manual.
4 Coastal GIS & Environment Expert 1 M.Phil/Ph.D. in Agriculture Science/Environmental Engineering/Geography/Geology Research on aquatic environment, climate change, GIS modeling, and remote sensing with DRR perspectives.
5 Research Fellow 4 BS (1st Class) in Freshwater Biology & Fisheries/Marine Biology/Marine Science Research on marine biodiversity, coral and plankton diversity, water quality, and climate change in Thatta's marine waters.
6 Field Assistant/Helper 1 Literate Assist fieldwork and research activities as required.

Eligibility and Application Guidelines

  1. Applications must include:

  2. Applications submitted after January 15, 2025 or incomplete applications will not be entertained.
  3. A recent passport-size photograph must be affixed to the application.
  4. The University reserves the right to cancel any advertised position at any stage.

  6. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
