JOB OPPORTUNITY

POSITION: DIRECTOR GENERAL

Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), University of Karachi, invites applications from highly qualified, motivated, and visionary professionals for appointment to the position of Director General.

KIBGE is one of Pakistan’s leading postgraduate institutions in the fields of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, actively engaged in advanced research in Agricultural, Environmental, Industrial, and Medical Biotechnology. The Director General will provide strategic leadership to steer the Institute towards academic excellence, innovation, and international recognition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Academic Leadership

  • Provide academic vision and leadership with a strong understanding of contemporary trends in higher education management.

  • Ensure academic quality, innovation, and continuous institutional growth.

2. Research & Education Excellence

  • Demonstrate leadership in education and research.

  • Address emerging challenges and opportunities at both national and international levels.

3. Financial & Strategic Management

  • Oversee financial planning and resource management.

  • Ensure efficient utilization of institutional resources in line with strategic goals.

4. International Collaboration & Representation

  • Represent the Institute at national and international forums.

  • Organize, participate, and present in symposia, conferences, and workshops.

  • Promote international academic and research collaborations.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Agriculture, or a closely related discipline from an HEC-recognized institution.

Publications

  • Minimum Twenty-Five (25) research publications in impact factor journals.

Experience

  • Must be serving as a Professor in a Public Sector University / Public Sector Higher Education Institution.

  • At least:

    • 15 years teaching/research experience, OR

    • 10 years post-PhD teaching/research experience in an HEC-recognized university, postgraduate institution, or relevant national/international organization.

Age Limit

  • Not more than 55 years on the closing date of the advertisement.

Additional Requirements

  • Proven track record of leadership and strategic management in academic or research institutions.

TENURE & REMUNERATION

  • Tenure: 04 years (Contractual)

  • Remuneration: Fixed salary to be determined by the Governing Council, KIBGE
