CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Karachi, a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Industries & Production, invites applications from highly qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

1. Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Maximum 62 years on the closing date of application

Qualification

  • B.Sc. Engineering in:
    • Metallurgical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
  • Degree must be from an HEC-recognized university

Desirable Qualification:

  • Master’s degree (minimum 2 years) in:
    • Public Administration
    • Business Administration
    • Economics / Development Economics
    • Finance

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years post-qualification experience
  • At least 5 years in a top management position (public or private sector)

Additional Advantage:

  • Experience as:
    • Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
    • Managing Director
    • Head of a commercial/public/private organization

Other Requirements

  • Strong understanding of public policy and governance challenges
  • Proven leadership and strategic management skills

2. Job Profile / Responsibilities

The CEO will be appointed on a 3-year contract basis and will be responsible for:

  • Implementing decisions of the Board of Directors (BOD)
  • Managing:
    • Administrative affairs
    • Human resource functions
    • Legal matters and litigations
  • Coordinating with Federal and Provincial Governments
  • Ensuring:
    • Efficient and effective use of financial resources
    • Compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Safeguarding assets through proper monitoring and stock-taking
  • Reporting regularly to the Board on:
    • Liabilities
    • Claims and litigation
  • Presenting strategic plans and vision for the future development of Pakistan Steel Mills

3. Conditions of Appointment

  • Appointment will be made in accordance with:
    • State-Owned Enterprises (Governance & Operations) Act, 2023
    • SOE (C-Level Appointments) Guidelines, 2024
  • The CEO will be accountable to:
    • Board of Directors
    • Government of Pakistan
  • Mandatory disclosure required under Section 30 of SOE Act 2023
  • Salary package will be commensurate with qualification and experience
