Vice Chancellors Committee Presents Recommendations to Resolve Issues of Sindh Universities

The Governor of Sindh has constituted a six-member Vice Chancellors Committee to present their recommendations to resolve the current crises of issues in Sindh Universities. The committee on the directives of Governor Sindh has officially presented their recommendations on Thursday. The committee has recommended the following points:

  1. The employees must be treated with due respect and should be given right to voice their opinions
  2. The University service should be decaled as essential service in all across Sindh.
  3. Complaints against university administration should be processed on merit system
  4. The universities should constitute a committee to review the complains and process inquiries
  5. Law enforcement and regulating authorities should not hold inquires against university’s administration on random and anonymous complaints without verification.
  6. Inquiry without verification demoralizes employees and effects the work ethic
  7. One sided action should be withheld and employees should be given margin to have their say
  8. Assess the complaint’s merit before processing
  9. Age limit for appointing professors must be extended to 70 years
  10. Special Pay Packages must be offered to professors in specialized areas of courses and programmes

The recommendations are presented to Governor Singh and HEC Chairman for review. Pakistan Universities including those in Sindh had been going through tough crisis and disturbance due to involvement of law enforcements agencies in their internal matters. Arrests and cancellation of appointments have occurred due to corruption charges. The unrest had caused perplexity in students. Now the Governor of Sindh had taken the matter in hands and asked for VC’s recommendations. University of Sargodha Organized a Seminar on CPEC On Thursday, the University of Sargodha organized a seminar with title, ‘China-Pakistan Relation: The Case of CPEC’. The aim of this seminar was to educate students about the impact of this project and its consequences. The seminar was attended by students of Department of History and Pakistan Studies, faculty members and Dr Fazlur Rahman, Director Pakistan Institute of China Studies, Sargodha University. Dr Fazlur Rahman said during his address, ‘  CPEC is a major and pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative and one major platform for comprehensive and substantive cooperation between China and Pakistan, it is a historic and extremely benefiting project, it will attract investors in Pakistan enabling a large number of jobs opportunities for youth and businesses for locals’. Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Award 2018 held at LUMS University The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) organized Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Award 2018 on Thursday. Renowned Pakistani businessmen Luqman Afzal Monal received this award for his remarkable achievements in Pakistani business sectors and for introducing unique cousins. He is also former alumni of LUMS University. 10 former alumni were considered for this award. The finalist was selected by consisting of members of faculty, chaired by the Vice Chancellor. The winner received the award during an elegant ceremony and was retreated with fancy lunch hosted by Vice Chancellor. The winner is selected on the basis of his achievements, contribution to local, regional and national communities.
