Faisalabad, Like two dozen American universities, the USAID will also launch a capital campaign in the University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission.

This was revealed by Dr Mary Bane Lackie, the chief of the party of USAID funded Higher Education Commission-Financial Aid Development Program (HEC-FAD), while addressing a meeting of deans and directors at the UAF here on Thursday.

She said the HEC-FAD program would strengthen the higher education program in an institute of higher learning in Pakistan.

Dr Mary said the capital campaign had been successfully running in America where 23 universities were receiving more than 100 million dollars from donors.

She said the top one per cent donors of the United States were contributing 50 per cent of the total amount of donations whereas top 10 per cent donors were contributing 90 per cent of total donations.

She lauded the infrastructure and initiatives of the UAF as a premier agricultural seat of learning in the subcontinent.

UAF vice-chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad apprised Dr Mary of university achievements and said as a pioneering agricultural institution, the university had been making efforts for the green revolution and progress in poultry, cotton, maize, sugarcane and wheat in Pakistan.

He said the UAF was a strong institution for the proposed HEC-FAD capital campaign which was likely to be launched soon.
