University of Peshawar awards first PhD degree to Malaysian Scholar

Peshawar: Nasha Bin Rodziadi has become the first Malaysian scholar to complete his PhD in archaeology from the University of Peshawar. The university has awarded degree to the scholar on Monday.

University of Peshawar (UoP) awarded PhD degree to the first Malaysian Scholar.

According to the press release issued by authorities of university, the Malaysian scholar was admitted in the PhD programme under the contract signed by the University Sains Malaysia and the University of Peshawar a few years ago.

His topic was regarding the detailed study and exploration of inscriptions found in the Gandhara zone for which the scholar collected the related stuff from all the museums in Pakistan.

Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar, Prof Mohammad Rasul Jan awarded doctorate degree on the scholar at a ceremony organized at the university.

On the award ceremony, he said that the doors of the university were open to the universal scholars and more students should get admission in varsity to get quality education.

He said entry of international students in the university had lessened owing to the prevailing law and order situation, however added that special exchange programmes had been started along with foreign universities to prevent the weakening.

VC moreover said that the Universiti Sains Malaysia was interested in more teamwork together with University of Peshawar in the fields of disaster management and peace and conflict studies.

In the meantime, after getting the degree from UoP, Nasha Bin Rodziai has been offered the post of assistant professor in the Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Nasha Bin Rodziai has also been assigned as ambassador of academic exchange programmes between the two institutes.
