A delegation from the University of Bradford is currently in Pakistan to host ‘Destination Bradford’ events in Pakistan. The first event held in Lahore on Saturday 23 February. The second event is due to be organized in Islamabad on Tuesday 26th February and the final event will be held in Karachi on Thursday 28th February. The delegation is headed by VC of Bradford University Brian Cantor along with senior professors and staff.

The purpose of organizing these events is to initiate collaborative ties with Pakistan’s Higher Education Sector. The delegation has invited stalk holders, alumni and partners from higher education sector of Pakistan in the events. The University of Bradford’s External Affairs Director, Mark Garratt explained to the press regarding the schedule of their trip, he said, ‘We are extremely excited about this trip as the trip has potential to bring benefits to both Bradford region and Pakistan region. Our schedule is tightly packed that includes meetings with senior government officials, events with our amazing and successful alumni and supporting the outstanding Lahore Literature Festival. We are hoping to see many new partnerships to emerge from the trip and hopefully inspire many prospective students to apply to Bradford’.

The Regional Manager of the University of Bradford, Fahd Asif said, ‘As part of this trip, we are pleased to launch the new £4,000 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for students from Pakistan. On applying, Pakistani students will be eligible for a special £4,000 scholarship in addition to several half-fee scholarships and external fully funded awards as well. Higher Education Institutions Should Play Active Role In Socio-Economic Development of Pakistan: Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Muhammad Ali

The Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Muhammad Ali emphasized higher education institutions to play active role in socio-economic development of Pakistan. He said this while attending an inaugural session of two day international conference on Nano-Materials Modeling and Simulation held at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Saturday.
He said higher education institutes should build strong linkage with industrial sector and special economic zones for socio-economic development. Renowned scholars and academicians from Pakistan and abroad attended this international conference. The countries of China, USA, UK, Germany, Korea and Nigeria were represented in event. AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Mahmood chaired the conference organized by the department of Physics AIOU.

During the event an exhibition showcasing the research projects and achievements of AIOU in promoting research culture in Pakistan was organized. Nano-materials technology is an effective technique to diagnose and treat deadly diseases like cancer. By projecting this technique AIOU will help Pakistan’s health care sector to help people cure from deadly diseases. The attendants of the international conference praised this effort by AIOU leadership for opening doors to such innovation.
