Lahore: University of Management and Technology (UMT) is making money from the aspirants registered in media studies, as the management has intentionally failed them, forcing them to study an additional semester.

The documents available along with this transcriber affirm that the aspirants attempted the final term exams and also obtained good marks.

As per the details, almost ten to twelve aspirants appeared in the final exams and cleared those exams, however their grades were not declared by the management of university. After the passage of over 12 weeks, the administration of UMT, giving an excuse, disclosed that the attendance of these aspirants was short, and adding that some of the students did not even attempt the exams.

The students requested the rector, registrar, controller examination and dean of School of Social Sciences and Humanities of University of Management and Technology to resolve this issue without any more delay and announce declare their results and also upload on their web-portfolio.

As per the rules of university, almost 80 percent attendance is required for a student to attempt the final term exams, which means that out of 30 lectures, 24 are essential for the students.

On the other hand, if concerned officials have cleared the students and permitted them to attempt the paper, then what reason was kept behind this matter?

On the condition of secrecy, students told media that they had taken approval before attempting the final term exam. Though, they added, the management of varsity was not uploading their results, and also blaming them for ‘short attendance’.

They moreover said that the management of Media and Communication Department falls under the School of Social Sciences Humanities, which gave false deadlines of exams to end the issue but all in vain.

The students while talking to media moreover said that it was their final year and due to this incident, their hard work of four years would be wasted. They said that the university’s authorities were using such strategies to get money from them.

They also added they sent applications to the concerned officials many times however their response was rather disheartening. One of the students said he forwarded the application four times however the administration always claimed to have lost it.

“The strategies for charging excessive fines are being utilizes as well as the management is demanding additional money from students in order to register for the subject again. The administration should realize that such diplomacies will only waste precious time of students,” he said.

Students are still confused on the matter concerning to their future, as more delay in conferring degrees upon them could have a negative impact on their professions.
