The Sindh government has announced to not recognize the 2- year bachelor's and master’s degree program. Earlier the higher education commission had issued the notification about abolishing the BA/BSc and MA/MSc programs. After the announcement, many universities protested against the decision of the commission. The concerned authorities stated that the students have to complete their BA/BSc degrees by 31st December 2018 otherwise the commission will not recognize them. The main purpose to phase out the two-year degree program is to provide quality education to the students.
The Decision of Sindh Government
Earlier the Sindh government had rejected the decision of the government and said that the students will be responsible if they take admission to the phased-out program. It has been said that the students can get enrolled in the 4-year BS program offered by the various colleges and universities. The government has taken back its decision of recognizing the two-year program so the students are not notified to not take admission in such programs. In this regard, the government has issued the notification and informed the students the college education department has taken this decision in compliance with the orders of the high court.
2-Year Degree Program
Moreover, it has also been informed that the universities have to complete the final exams of BA, BSc, and B.Com before 31st March 2021. The BA/BSc degree holders have been allowed to take admission in the fifth semester of the BS program to continue their studies. The students are required to fulfill the additional course requirements as mentioned by the respective authorities. The college professors said that they do not get the issued notification from the education department of Sindh regarding the two-year program but the government has clarified and notified all the students to take the admission according to the announcement made by the government.
