The federal minister for education and professional training, Shafqat Mahmood has announced to hold the matric and intermediate annual exams 2021 in July. Earlier the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) was held in which all the provincial education ministers participated to decide about the commencement of the exams. In the previous meeting held on 24th May 2021, it had been announced to conduct the annual exams of all the classes and without the exams, the students will not be promoted to next year. It had also been decided that the board exams will commence after 20th June 2021 and priority will be given to the matric and intermediate exams.
Statement of Education Minister
According to the statement issued by the education minister after the today’s meeting of IPEMC, this year exams of elective subjects and mathematics will be conducted for the students of the ninth and tenth class. The decision has been taken by considering the benefit of the students as they have to join the FSc pre medical, FSc pre engineering or any other field after the completion of matric. Based on the elective subjects the students will be able to choose the fields that they wanted to pursue according to their choice. Furthermore, the students of the 11th and 12th class will give the exams of elective subjects only.
Matric and Intermediate Exams
The education minister said that the annual exams of matric and intermediate will be conducted after 10th July so that the candidates are given two or three extra weeks for the preparation of the exams. There will be proper implementation of SOPs in all the examination centers. The minister clarified that it is mandatory to hold the exams as without the exams the performance of the students cannot be assessed and moreover they will not put any effort into studies. The special exams of O level will be commenced from 26th July 2021. The date sheet will be issued soon for the candidates by the concerned authorities.
