Schools Might Remain Closed in January, Says Sindh Education Minister

Sindh education minister, Saeed Ghani has said that the schools might remain closed in January. The minister added that according to the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic, it is unlikely that the educational institutes will be reopened after 10th January 2021. Earlier it was decided the schools will resume classes from the next month as per the announced schedule. The provincial education minister previously stated that the government will not promote the students to the next grade without taking the annual board exams. The annual examinations of matric and intermediate got canceled this year and the board officials had declared to promote the students based on the promotion policy. 

Uniform Education Policy

It is pertinent to mention here that in the last month after the meeting of the national command and operation center it was announced that the educational institutes across the country will remain closed till 10th January 2021 due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. In the meeting, the health officials and education ministers of all provinces had participated to review the prevalence of the lethal virus. According to the data showed by the health department, there was a rapid transmission of the COVID-19 in the educational institutes. So in order to protect the students, the government had announced to shut down the institutes. The examinations had also been postponed except for the few professional exams. The Supreme Court has directed the provincial authorities to opt for the uniform policy to manage the education crisis caused by the coronavirus. 

Coronavirus Situation 

According to the latest reports, there has been an upsurge in the cases of the coronavirus in the country. The government has directed the people to follow the standard operating procedures devised by the government to minimize the risk of infection of COVID-19. The coronavirus prevalence across Pakistan has been observed highest in Hyderabad and Karachi.
