Punjab University Opens Admissions 2026: Registration for Mandatory Entry Test Begins

The University of the Punjab (PU) has officially launched the first phase of its undergraduate admissions cycle for the 2026 session. The university has opened the online registration portal for its mandatory entrance test, signaling the start of the admissions season for one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions.

With a strict deadline approaching, candidates are urged to complete their registration by May 25th, 2026, to secure their chance at securing a seat in various undergraduate programs. The university has confirmed that the entrance test is scheduled to be held on June 14th, 2026.

Mandatory Testing with 25% Merit Weightage

In a bid to streamline the admissions process and maintain academic rigor, Punjab University has made the entrance test a compulsory component for admission to the 2026 session. According to an official spokesperson for the university, the written test will carry a 25 percent weightage in the overall admission merit calculation.

To facilitate candidates from across the country, the university will establish testing centers in major cities throughout Pakistan. This initiative ensures that students from remote areas have equitable access to the admission process without the need to travel to Lahore.
