Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting, in which the secretary of schools briefed the partakers on the educational statistics of Pakistan 2015-16 released by the Academy of Educational Planning and Management.

According to the issued Education statistics, Punjab has taken lead in the education zone over all other units of Pakistan.

CM of Punjab, while admiring the whole group for magnificent execution in education field, said that the Punjab government had promised to provide the unavailable facilities in the schools along with billions of rupees, which had driven into remarkable laud in registration by diminishing dropout rates.

He furthermore said that Punjab has selected the merit policy at each level. He also added that in order to address the issue of lack of educators at schools, 2 million brilliant teachers had been hired over the past eight years.

Similarly, working on the establishment of extra classrooms at schools was moving forward rapidly, whereas the walls of all schools across the province will be completed before March 2018, he added. Chief Minister said that a programme had been devised to light up the schools through solar panels that were without electricity before, as twenty thousand schools will be provided electricity under Khadim-e-Punjab Ujala Programme.

He said that eight-three thousand children had been released from child labour at brick kilns and were brought to school by offering them stationary.

"Today these children are not just getting education however also monthly income from the government of Punjab."

While instructing to ensure the 100% implementation of the decisions made for the promotion of education, the CM Punjab said that the assessment results were encouraging.

Several proposals to increase the registrations at schools were also approved in the meeting.

Punjab Schools Education Minister Mashood Ahmad Khan, Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Adviser Dr Umar Saif, Special Assistant Malik Mohammad Ahmed Khan, Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Engineer Qamar Islam Raja, additional chief secretary, planning and development chairman, Vice chairperson of PEEF, educational experts as well as other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.

At the same time, progress on the programme of starting e-libraries in the province was look over at a meeting headed by the CM.

While speaking on the occasion, CM said that the government of Punjab was setting up state-of-the-art e-libraries in different cities across the province, which will give study opportunities to the citizens in a good environment.
