The Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Wednesday signed the Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib Bill 2020. According to the details, after the sanction of the bill, the Government of Punjab will establish an international level University along with the degree awarding status.
While sharing his views, Governor Punjab said:
“Baba Guru Nanak Varsity will undoubtedly outshine in the educational and research fields and it also proves to be the center of excellence in different fields.” He furthermore added that, international level professionals had shown their interest to make their connection along with the Baba Guru Nanak University. The Governor Punjab further said that; the establishment of a university in the historic city of Nankana Sahib would undoubtedly help in the new era of progress, prosperity as well as knowledge.
Baba Guru Nanak University was being built to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji; the founder of Sikh religion. The selection of the site for the university was more important as Nankana Sahib is the Birth Place of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Prime Minister Laid the Foundation Stone of Baba Guru Nanak University
Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan had laid the foundation stone of the Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib last year in October as a part of his vision to gratify minorities in Pakistan in the light of sayings of Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib Opened for Sikh Pilgrims
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) who is governing the state also constructed Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims from all over the world and particularly India. The founder of the Sikh religion Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji was buried in Kartarpur.
