Lahore: The chairperson of Punjab Higher Education Commission Professor Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin has said that the government of Punjab allocated a huge amount of funds for higher education sector for the financial year 2017-18 in the provincial budget.

While speaking at the meeting of Punjab higher education commission senior management committee, Dr Nizam said Rs1.5 billion were allotted for the establishment of Leadership and Faculty Development Academy, Rs108 million for the construction of Community Colleges in Punjab while 50 million rupees for the promotion of science education in higher educational institutes across the province.

Besides this, 500 million rupees had also been allotted to Punjab higher education commission under other development programme in the budget 2017-18.

The chairman of Punjab higher education commission admired the efforts of the Punjab government for paying special attention to the higher education sector in the fiscal budget 2017-18.

Dr Nizam furthermore added that:

“This budget will assist the Punjab higher education commission to grow as an institution and fortify its infrastructure, which will permit it to better cater to higher education reforms in Punjab.”

“Our strategies include the construction of 50 degree colleges in Punjab, providing missing facilities in 30 government colleges across the province as well as the completion of the building of Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) Rahimyar Khan,” PHEC chairman added.
