Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar Announces Establishment of New University in Chakwal

The Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar has announced a new university will be established in Chakwal. The university will accommodate state of art facilities and it will be named University of North Punjab. The Chief Minister has approved the project and its draft bill will be placed in front of authorities of provincial cabinet for formalities.

The establishment of new university in Chakwal has been meant to cater the needs of modern academic infrastructure in Chakwal. The university will provide modern research facilities for courses of science and technology with updated teaching system. Its establishment is aimed at enhancing academic skills of students in Chakwal according to contemporary demands. Higher education opportunities and modern academic infrastructure is accessible to student of cosmopolitan cities but at remote areas the academic facilities require development.

Through development of university of north Punjab, the students belonging to areas around Chakwal will have access to public higher education institution. The Punjab Assembly has approved 15 bills under tenure of current government and 32 more are under consideration. The current provincial government of Punjab has made more legislations than previous government.

The efforts of current government for improvement of higher education sector have been commendable so far. The elements of nepotism, corruption, administrative weaknesses and undue treatment to teachers at the public universities in Pakistan have been addressed with severity. In order to remove gap in quality of education among public and private universities there are still massive steps to be taken.

With establishment of a new public university in Northern Punjab will ensure high quality of education in access of masses that have to travel to distant cities for admissions in post graduate courses. If the Punjab Assesmbly approves the draft bill of new university in Chakwal then it would be a great developmental breakthrough in higher education sector of Pakistan.
