PEEF awards Rs 1.5m scholarships to GCU students

Lahore, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) has awarded Rs1.5 million scholarships to 23 postgraduate students of Government College University GCU Lahore. The scholarship distribution ceremony was presided over by Prof. (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman Vice Chancellor GCU Lahore while PEEF Senior Manager Scholarships Naveed Akber Cheema and GCU Dean Faculty Prof Dr Islam Ullah Khan were also present on the occasion.
 
The GCU Vice Chancellor said that these scholarships will be supportive for those students who want to continue their studies. Now they could get education without any financial crunch. The GCU VC while recognizing the Shahbaz Sharif’s efforts for the promotion of education, he said that other provinces should also start the endowment fund trusts for needy and poor students. GCU has the distinction of its own endowment fund trust and every year scholarships are distributed of millions of rupees among the students who cannot continue their studies due to financial problems.
 
Naveed Akber Cheema said that the PEEF awards scholarships purely on need basis and its method is transparent and due to this reason many international institutes are collaborating with it. Later on GCU Vice Chancellor distributed the scholarships cheques among the students.

The Government College, Lahore got the status of a University in 2002 and became a seat for higher learning. It was renamed as the GC University Lahore. The GCU is working to enhance and promote quality of education across the country.

This Institution is one of the oldest seats of higher learning in the Muslim world. GC University joins old traditions and modern educational standards to meet the international standards established the by persons like Dr. Leitner, philosopher the poet, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and the Noble Laureate, Dr. Abdus Salam.
