Karachi: The vice chancellor of University of Karachi (UOK), Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, announced that no student of KU will be deprived of applying for the HEC PhD scholarships, as all the data about all the morning, evening and diploma programmes has already been uploaded on the web portal of HEC.

Ajmal Khan said that he had taken notice that the varsity students will be deprived of HEC scholarships because of the failure of the Karachi University’s management to upload all the related data. He inspected the issue and it was revealed that former Vice Chancellor’s focal person did not upload all the data even though the university bore the expenditures of training her for this job.

The main person failed to upload the data and resigned before the given deadline, indicating that it was a huge job that could not be completed in a shorter period of time.

“I took instant notice of this emerging situation and appointed a new focal person for uploading the data,” VC said, adding that the director of the institute of sustainable halophyte utilization at University of Karachi, Prof Dr Bilquees Gul, is the new focal person.

She was asked to upload all the data before the deadline, which the Higher Education Commission extended by one week.
