The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has launched Pakistan’s first ever job portal for keeping the records of its existing employees and for future employment purposes. This initiative is novel at University level in Pakistan. The portal was inaugurated on Sunday by Rector of IIUI Professor Masoom Yaseenzai and President of IIUI Professor Ahmed Yousaf Ahmed Al Darwaish.

The online job portal has features such as: People can register as job seekers, build their profiles, and look for jobs matching their skill sets, Users can upload their existing resumes. If they don’t have resume, the willing candidates will be able to register their details in the online form and have their resume formed, People can apply directly to posted jobs, University can register, post jobs, and search job seeker profiles, Multiple representatives from the University should be able to register and post jobs, University administration and representatives can view a list of job applicants and can contact them, initiate an interview, or perform some other action related to their post and the registered users will be able to search for jobs and make choice from the derived results according to their desired location, required skills, salary, experience level and other criterion and preferences.

The Rector of IIUI commended the initiative and regarded the portal as beneficial source for several factors. He said that through this portal the administration will be able to select best options for employees transparently and further amendments could be made based on the results. It is facilitating for both University administration and job seekers of IIUI. The foremost function the portal will provide is direct accessibility to job seekers for attainability of employment without having go through tedious paper work and presenting their abilities to employers without mediators.

University will also be able to channel their demands and requirements directly through means of online job portal to job seekers. The portfolio of University’s existing employees will also be added in to the portal for University to monitor performance of its team. The Human Resource department of IIUI has set up the whole system of its online job portal without any external aid, which has saved University revenue as well. Through the channel of online job portal, the issues of employees can be resolved immediately.

The introduction of modern and tech related methods in University administration are new in Pakistan. The IT field and courses are swiftly entering into each and every field and profession of the country. It is need of the time and time saving technique. The use of internet is although widespread in Pakistan, but the right use of it has now begun. The old system of employment had been exploited for personal benefits; the elements of nepotism and corruption are there as well. Establishment of job portals become source of impartiality and un-biasness for employment based on merit. Now that it has begun, it must be initiated in other Pakistani Universities for eliminating nepotism completely and totally from the higher education system of the country.
