Islamabad: On the invitation of Turkish Council of Higher Education (COHE), a 2-member delegation of Higher Education Commission (HEC), led by the chairperson of HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, visited Ankara to sign an agreement of Understanding for offering 80 PhD slots to Pakistani aspirants in prominent universities of Turkey.

According to the signed agreement, COHE Turkey will allot 80 Ph.D slots in top ranked universities of Turkey and renounce the tuition fee or bring it to minimum, whereas the higher education commission will facilitate travel and provide remuneration to the selected intellectuals.

The MoU was signed by Chairperson HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and President COHE Prof. M A Yekta Saraç.

Several other opportunities were also discussed along with the COHE president and Members of the Council, including the joint researchers’ mobility grant programme known as “Pak-Turk Researchers’ Mobility Grant Programme”.

Under this programme, HEC will sponsor travel of Pakistani researchers to Turkey whereas COHE will sponsor Turkish researchers’ travel to Pakistan.

Moreover, Thematic Research Center in Material Sciences would be established in Pakistan along with the coordination of Turkish Universities.

It was also discussed there that a Technology Park would be established in Pakistan and Turkish Universities will provide the technical aid in this regard.
