The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in a notification has just made it clear that no rankings have been published or issued for online preparation for universities.
The notification issued by HEC claims that the Reports released by various universities have been published by a section of press.
Higher Education Commission has asked the varsities self-report themselves for preparation, and this report has been shared along with the general public. The list that some universities refer to is only a statement of the information that they submitted.
Up till now, approximately 138 universities have submitted their information which is available online, while the remaining 30% of the institutes have not yet submitted their reports.
The major objective behind making this information online is to assist the universities in improving their performance, instead of ranking different universities. The percentage figures linked along with the different universities indicate the information they submitted before the due date. It has nothing to do with the comparison or reflection of the quality of their online offering.
Details regarding delivery of Online Courses and Training of Faculty
Based on data which has been gathered till now, the faculty members are teaching 108,084 out of 112,109 courses online to the aspirants. Total 42,392 faculty members were trained on how to provide Online Education; this data represents 86.7 percent of the 48,851 faculty members who began teaching online after the pandemic began. At the same time, 127 out of 138 varsities have also reported that they started offering digital library resources to their students.
HEC Requests Universities not to spread false Information
Moreover, Higher Education Commission will review information when the universities will complete it and will notify the media if it develops a qualitative classification as a result. HEC has asked the universities not to state that they are rated or that the commission has determined that they meet 100% of the requirements. HEC has also asked the press to verify the information before publishing it.
