HEC declares 2500 AIOU’s students eligible for laptops under PM’s youth laptop scheme

Islamabad: The higher education commission of Pakistan (HEC) has declared 2500 registered aspirants of PhD, M.Phil and MS level of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) eligible for the laptops under the PM’s youth laptop scheme in third-phase, according to the set merit criteria.

The aspirants for the laptops were selected on country-wide basis. The laptops distribution ceremony was organized on second consecutive day at the main campus of university, during which 197 aspirants of Rawalpindi zone were handed over the laptops by the vice chancellor of varsity Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui.

A day before, at first stage, approximately 250 aspirants of Islamabad region received the laptops under PM laptop scheme.

While addressing the laptop distribution ceremony, the vice chancellor of AIOU congratulated the recipients of laptop and said it was credit of their creative skills and hard work. He further expected that the laptops will assist them to commence innovative and applied research work to serve the society.

He also thanked the commission for its support and giving necessary funds in doing the research work.

As an encouragement, special cash awards are given to the aspirants of higher education for doing globally compatible quality research work and producing commercially worthwhile projects that assits the society to overwhelmed its socio-economic issues.

The laptop distribution ceremony was attended among others by Dean of Sciences Dr. Naghmana Rashid, Dean of Social Science department Dr. Samina Awan, Dean of Education department Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Dean of Islamic Studies department Dr. Mohyuddin Hashmi, Director Rawalpindi region Dr. Malik Tuqeer Ahmed as well as the Director Students’ advisory services Rana Tariq Javed.

The excited aspirants received the latest laptops along with the specifications permitting them to utilize it both as a computer and also as a notepad.

Furthermore, an internet device was also the part of this package.
