The students said that there were flaws in the standard of assessing the academic aptitude of the students for issuing grades, as a result of which 60 % of students were given low grades.In a statement issued on Twitter, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said: "Our tireless efforts have paid off. Cambridge has decided not to give less than the grade offered by the schools and Cambridge will soon announce new grades." 

Cambridge has announced that the grades to be given in June 2020 will not be less than the recommended grades of the schools. In the results given last week, the grades obtained will be higher than the recommended grades. Cambridge says the new grades will soon be sent to universities and admissions agencies, and the new grades will be posted on Cambridge International Direct. 

Protest By O and A level students and Murad Raas Response:

The decision came after student protests in the UK when results in exams were slashed by about 40 per cent. A and O level students in Pakistan also had staged protests in Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala yesterday. Earlier, A level and first level students carried banners and posters at Faisal Chowk in Lahore protested. Demonstrators chanted slogans expressing distrust in the results of the exams. On this occasion, the protesting students said that the policies were changed due to Corona but it violated the rights of the students coming on merit, so we demand that the future be secured.

During the protest, traffic was blocked on the Mall Road and commuters were severely disturbed. The students said that if the demands were not met, they would stage protests across the country.
