The Federal Minister of Broadcasting and Information Fawad Chaudhary chaired a meeting on Tuesday regarding establishment of Media University. The media university is an initiative of PTI government to promote media education and training in Pakistan. The university is under process of planning and the Federal Minister chaired this meeting on Tuesday to take update regarding its progress of development. The meeting was attended by Higher Education Commission Chairman Tariq Banuri, Secretary Information and Broadcasting Shafqat Jalil and other senior officials.

Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhary has taken assistance of renowned telecommunication brand Huawei for establishment of technical school which will also be a part of Media University. While giving updates to media regarding this meeting, the Federal Minister said, ‘To participate in media industry, the students must learn innovative skills and participate in media training; the Media University will be serving as technological hub for future generations of Pakistan’.

He said, ‘The Government is dedicated to provide news media education and other journalism courses to the students and also training in the best digital technological practices prevalent in the media sector, the curriculum of courses being taught at Media University will be designed by taking consultation of stakeholders covering wide range of subjects, including the courses on drama production, film and cinema studies’.

The Minister said the phenomenon of social has taken over the world and it has major impact on ideology of people. Media education has become imperative to teach in Pakistan and all around the world he emphasized. The country head Huawei Mr Saif Chi also attended the meeting on behalf of Huawei. He elaborated the Minister about his company’s ongoing collaboration with other academic institutions of Pakistan for development of several media related projects.

Conference on ‘Unity, Faith and Discipline’, Held At the University ‘of Peshawar

A conference with title, ‘Unity, Faith and Discipline’, was held at the University of Peshawar on Tuesday. The organizers of the conference included the Centre for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS) and University of the Peshawar. The panelists of the conference were of the view that school students of Pakistan should be taught about the spiritual foundations of Pakistan.

Lessons detailing the spiritual foundations of Pakistan should be included in syllabus. The panelists of conference also stated that a country can only exist as a federation and it is high time our political parties and leaders realize is for greater good of Pakistan. Teaching must be a highest paid profession as the teachers are educating the future generations of any nation. This all was discussed and emphasized by panelists present at the conference.

The panelists who attended the conference include: Former corps commander of Peshawar,  Lieutenant-General (retired) Masood Aslam, Former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police additional inspector general Akhtar Ali Shah, Election Commission of Pakistan’s former federal secretary Kanwar Dilshad and UoP Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre’s Director Prof Dr Rashad Ahmed, Peshawar University Islamic and Oriental Studies Faculty Dean Professor Dr Mirajul Islam Zia and UoP Pakistan Study Centre Director Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam.
