Islamabad: The FATA University will start its functionin from next fall semester, whereas Gwadar University as well as its sub-campus of Balochistan in Zhob are also expected to commence their academic activities in 2017. FATA University that is established in Darra Adamkhel, the Frontier Region of Kohat, will provide admissions on the basis of open merit, said Vice-Chancellor of varsity Dr Tahir.
He said that as per the rules laid down in the statute of the university, 2013, besides the aspirants from tribal areas the students from any part of the country can submit applications for admission. However, the restriction will be that they should be Pakistani residents only, he added.
The VC said that the university will start academic function in Degree College, Darra Adamkhel, from September 2016, utilizing it as a makeshift camp.
The vice-chancellor said that the building of Fata University would be completed in a time period of five years at a cost of almost Rs4.5 billion, adding he had indorsed Rs1.6 billion for PC-1 as first grant.
Mr Tahir said that the campuses of university would be started from next year in postgraduate colleges of Khar in Bajaur Agency, Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency as well as Parachinar in Kurram Agency.
He moreover said that at first 4 subjects were being introduced and more will be added keeping in view the requirements, whereas the posts of the faculty had already been publicized in the newspapers for employment.
He said the employment procedure will be completed during the summer vacations. The subjects which will be taught are computer science and Information Technology, earth sciences, electronics as well as chemistry, he added.
Mr Tahir furthermore said that 20 faculty members will be sent abroad for PhD to certify the quality education to aspirants.
